“Why is that so bad?”

“I wanted to be married first.”

“I don’t care about that. I just want you,” she said.

“Fuck.”

She saw him debate it a moment before he nodded.

“Okay, but I’ll take you and make you mine, in my bed.”

She didn’t care and didn’t want to waste another minute of her life. “All right.”

“Get dressed. I’m not taking you out of here just wearing a robe.”

She entered her closet and quickly dressed in a blue dress that came two inches above her knees. The top was form-fitting, and the bottom flared out. She slid on some sandals and walked to him.

He held out his hand. “Ready?”

“Yes.”

He led her downstairs, where she hugged her mother, Trent, and Mateo.

“We’ll come to see you tomorrow, baby.”

“Okay, Mama.”

Duncan took her hand again, and they walked outside to where Jamison stood with the back door open.

She smiled at the older man. “Thank you.”

“You’re most welcome, miss.”

She ducked into the car, and Duncan quickly followed and sat pressed against her side with an arm around her shoulders.

She leaned her head back and closed her eyes.

“Are you tired, Angel?”

“Yes, but I’m also buzzing with thoughts in my head I don’t think will go away any time soon.”

“I can help with that.”

She opened her eyes. “Really? How.”

He smiled and pressed a kiss to her temple. “By loving you.”

Holy cow, she hadn’t thought about sex like that.

“Are you hungry at all? You haven’t eaten since this morning.”

“No. Not yet. I might be in an hour or so.”

“I’ll have Clarise bring up a tray for us. She can leave it outside our bedroom with a cover, so she won’t have to disturb us.”

“Okay.” She was quiet for a moment. “Can I say hi to my sisters and Beth?”

“Of course. I bet they’re waiting for you inside the front door.”
