Sleepingon the sand is actually more comfortable than I thought it would be. Well, if you don’t count sand covering what feels like every inch of my skin.

I never thought I would be the sex on a beach type, but last night was incredible. I figured that people who had sex on a beach were just looking for a quick lay, but it was so romantic.

Kai was so sweet, and I remember looking up at the stars and listening to his heartbeat and the gentle sound of waves crashing on shore as I fell asleep. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at the beach the same way again.

A boat horn blares in the distance and I yawn, stretching to try to ease the ache in my muscles. I’m deliciously sore all over, and I smile as I remember all of the things that Kai and I did to each other.

“Morning,” he rasps, and I smile shyly up at him.

I’m not really sure how to act around him now that we’ve slept together. We aren’t really a couple or anything, but touching him feels natural so I decide to go with that.

“Morning,” I say, rolling to sit up. That’s when it hits me.

Boat horn.

“Shit!” I shout when I see the ferry headed our way.

I look around frantically for my clothes, but Kai is already up and scrambling for his. He tosses me my dress and I tug it on, trying to brush the sand off of my skin in the process.

“I guess they're coming back for us,” he says as he slips his shirt on.

I want to weep as he covers up all of those muscles but we have more pressing matters to focus on now.

“Where are my panties?” I whisper hiss at him and he laughs.

“Why are we whispering?” he whispers back. I feel my cheeks start to heat.

“Fine. Where are my panties?” I shout, making him laugh.

“Somewhere safe,” he says as he tosses me my bra.

I glare at him, wondering what that could mean as I tug my arms back inside my dress and shimmy into my bra.

“I’ve seen you naked,” he reminds me, and I roll my eyes.

“Yeah, but they haven’t,” I say, nodding toward the approaching ferry.

“Good point. Ready to go?”

I nod, and he bends down, grabbing my purse and passing it to me. I glance inside for my panties but they’re not there. I want to ask him about them, but he’s reaching for my hand and then we’re jogging over to the dock.

“Hey there! Sorry about stranding you,” the captain says as we climb aboard. “The ferry had been canceled yesterday afternoon and it wasn’t until this morning that we remembered bringing you out here.”

“It’s okay. It was like a mini vacation,” Kai tells him.

We move over to take a seat on the deck as the boat reverses and we head to the next stop.

There are only a few people on board, and I sigh as I lean back in the seat and take one last look at our little island.

Kai squeezes my hand and I look over at him.

“Are you alright?” He asks me quietly, tucking some of my hair behind my ear before tilting my head up to meet his gaze.

His dark brown are studying my face, and I smile at him.

“I’m perfect,” I promise him.
