“Good. I’ve got two fucking petitions here,” Alpha said. “One an attempt tooverturn Amelia’s deer hunting.”

Boyan burst out laughing.

Wolfe kept his anger in check. This was not the first time a petition had been brought forward.

“How many signatures this time?” Gray asked.

“Not enough to overturn Amelia’s,” Alpha said. “Denied.”

They all agreed, denied.

The packwas clearly fucking bored if all they wanted to do was to overturn Amelia’s petition.

“Now this other petition, which isn’t exactly a petition, it is a request that has been brought forward, involving the damn grocery store.”

The club frowned.

Wolfe didn’t. “What’s it about?”

“It would seem, and fuck me, this is what I’ve been reduced to. It would seem someone might be on Amelia’s side after all. They want me to demand that a small section of vegan produce is made available in the grocery store.”

Wolfe looked at Alpha, who was looking directly at him.

Hedidn’t say anything. “You think it’s Val?”

“Could be Val,” Rocco said. “Guy has a soft spot for her.”

Boyan laughed. “He’s the only dude that does.”

“You could ask her to leave,” Draco said, “if this is getting irksome.”

Wolfe tensed up.

Amelia had thought about leaving, but that would be running. Being expelled from the pack, that was… He looked at Alpha, who was still staring at him.

“She’s pack, andI will not be told who I can and cannot have in our pack.” Alpha looked around the table, and they all agreed. “Do any of you have a reason for vegan fucking food to not be made available to Amelia?”

Noneof the pack members raised their hand. If anything, they all looked entertained. The fact he had to sneak that shit in was ridiculous.

Alphaslapped his hand on the table. He used to have a gavel, but that had constantly been snapped, which was always a waste. Alpha decided to use his palm.

Church was dismissed, and Wolfe got to his feet.

“Wolfe, a word,” Alpha said.

The club left the room, and he turned to look at Alpha. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

“No.”

Alpha picked up the piece of paper. “This looks a lot like your writing.”

“Could be anyone.”

“Amelia’s the town outcast, Wolfe.”

“I know that, Alpha. None of this is to do with me. Not a single thing. I couldn’t give a shit about her.” The lie was easy to tell.

Alpha looked at him, nodded, and then dismissed him.
