Chapter Eight

“I have a surprise for you,” he said.

She looked up at him in shock. “Really?”

“Oh, yeah, in fact, expect a lot of surprises from me because I want to spoil the hell out of you.”

“Can I spoil you, too?”

“Just by loving me, babe. That’s all I need.”

She traced his bottom lip with the tip of her finger. “I already do love you, and it’s more intense than I ever imagined.”

He looked surprised but pleased. “Oh, baby. Same here. I never thought I’d love this deeply.”

“You love me?” she asked.

“Yes, more than anything.”

“Like a man loves a woman?”

“Most definitely.”

She made a sound and pressed her face against his chest.

“Hey, are you okay?” he asked.

She nodded. “I just feel so much right now, and it scares me. It feels like my heart will beat out of my chest.”

“You’ve got my arms around you, baby. You don’t have to be scared of anything.”

Emily sighed.

“I haven’t talked about my surprise yet.”

She peeked up at him.

“I’m having Darian’s girl and a few others come and help with the playroom.”

“I already told you I don’t need anything,” she said.

He smirked. “Oh, it’s not for you. It’s for me.”

She narrowed her eyes. “For you?”

“Well, yeah.”

“You want to play with dolls?” she asked and arched one brow.

“Are you going to make fun of me if I do?”

It was hard to keep a straight face when she looked at him with suspicion and confusion.

“You’ll love the girls. You’ve all got a lot in common, and I know they’ve wanted to see you for weeks.”

Her eyes widened again. “Really?”

“Oh, yeah. They’ve been bugging their daddies to bring them here. They want to meet their new BFF.”
