Page 75 of The Chaos You Crave

"You basically said I did. What difference does it make if I call it now? Both of you are convinced I'm a fuck-up." I shoved the plate away, my appetite quickly disappearing.

"I don't know. I shouldn't have said anything."

"No, you shouldn't have. And I told you that when you brought the shit up to me a few days ago! But you had to get involved and plant the seed in her head."

"Like it wasn't already there? She's not an idiot and she’s been through this before.”

"What the fuck do you know about it, huh? You weren't there. But you're always around when I fuck up. Always there to be the hero and make her feel better." I grabbed a whiskey bottle from the counter and took a long pull, loving the burn down my throat.

"Alright guys, let's ease up a bit huh? We haven't even had dessert yet," Axel said trying to lighten the mood.

"No, I wasn't there. But my friend didn't speak to me for two years because of what you did, and I'm not going to lose her again because you're an idiot who can't admit that he wants her!"

"I do fucking want her! I never said I didn't. But if it's going to be like this, with you pestering and her saying shit like I'm just a distraction–afuckboy–how she's not going to let me hurt her again, I don't want to deal with it! I'm better off by myself where I won't hurt anyone and I won't fucking disappoint you." I took the whiskey and went to Axel's bedroom, slamming the door behind me.

I hated fighting with Bronx, but he didn't get it. What did he want me to do, profess my love to Ashtyn and get down on one knee and propose? Would that prove that I didn't intend to hurt her?

Fuck, I didn't want to hurt her but I wasn't going to pretend to be someone I'm not. I'm not a romantic person. I don't catch feelings for the women I fuck. It's just not me.

Ashtyn was different–or at least I thought so before I heard what she really thought of me. That I was destined to fuck her over. Guaranteed to hurt her. Again.

A fuckboy.

I finished the bottle of whiskey and tossed it in the little trash can next to the bed. I fell into a deep sleep thinking about the girl with the sad blue eyes.

Iknewitwasonly a matter of time.

I thought I would have to work harder for it, but her idiot neighbor was growing tired of her.

He picked her up from work all week…until tonight.

There must be trouble in paradise.

A lovers' spat.

The thought made me sick.

His hands all over her body. His dick down her throat, taking what'smine.

Watching her laugh with the gay bartender lit a fire inside of me.

I shouldn't be jealous of him, but he was so close to her. So close he could smell her sweet scent. He could reach out and touch her.

So perfect. Perfect for me.

I'll sit in the shadows for as long as necessary, biding my time, being patient.

Waiting.

I'll keep watching. Once her guard's down, that's when I'll pounce.

I'll collect my Queen.

And claim her as mine.
