“I think I’ve seen this one, and I’m not sure I like how it ends,” Xander said.

“There’s no other way,” Madison said.

“What about Clara?” Elias said. “You said she was collecting. Did you see others?”

Madison nodded. “She kept others in the dungeons in the basement. I’m not sure if your sister is there, but if she’s being held by the queen, that’s where she’d stash her.”

“There’s no hope of going sooner?” Elias asked.

“Not if you want to get your sister out alive,” Madison said. “If the queen thinks she’s going to lose her asset, she’d slit her throat rather than risk seeing her freed.”

“Sounds like we’ve got a party to crash,” I said. “Tell us everything else we need to know. By Saturday, we’ll be ready.”

David stood. “I’m going to check on Jasper and Hadrian. Let me know if I miss anything.”

“I just got back,” I said, disappointed that he was leaving so quickly.

“I’ll be back soon.” He walked out of the room and I could almost feel his restlessness.

The sooner we got this over with, the better.
