All I have to do now is scream for help and the police or whoever it is looking for the bomb will come and rescue me.

Just before I open my mouth to scream, I turn my head.

“That fucking hurt, sweet thing,” Archer growls at me in a whisper.

“Archer?” I whisper. “What the fuck are you doing out here? We’re not supposed to be out here.”

“I don’t follow rules,” he whispers. “Neither do you. Now shut the fuck up, Jaci. We’re not going to get caught.”

He slams his hand against my mouth again.

My eyes well up with tears from the pain, but I’m okay.

Archer wraps his other arm around my stomach and he pulls me against him.

I feel muscle. Thickness. I feel strength and power.

I feel danger in its rawest form.

I’m so turned on I feel like I’m going to leave a trail of wet droplets behind me.

That probably sounds really gross - or really hot.

But it’s the truth.

Archer holds me tight against his body and moves without standing up.

Keeping us hidden and keeping us moving.

He hurries across a small patch of leaf littered grass, toward a group of trees.

That’s when we get on our feet and he moves his hand from my mouth.

He flexes his hand and shows me the tender spot between his pointer finger and thumb.

That’s where I bit him.

My teeth marks are still visible.

“That’s what you get for sneaking up on me,” I say.

Archer flicks his left wrist and the tip of his knife is an inch from my nose.

“Don’t get mouthy with me, sweet thing,” he says. “You have me in a bad mood now.”

“What do you want, Archer?”

“I want to know what you’re doing out here,” he says.

“I was going for a walk. I wasn’t sure if this bomb thing was real or not.”

“Everyone is on lockdown right now.”

“Not you,” I say.

Archer leans closer to me. “And not your toy either.”

I swallow hard. “Where’s Cullen?”
