That sends Cullen and Archer into a fury.

And that’s when Seth fucking Vossenax walks from the kitchen.

He looks right at me.

And he points a gun at me.

Chapter 57

Behind me, the door is ready to blast off its hinges.

“Seth? What are you doing here?” I ask.

“You’re not alone,” he says. “Of course you’re not alone. I should have figured. I’ll keep this simple then. I know those pricks will be getting excited. Come over here and give me a hug, Jaci.”

“No,” I say. “Put the gun down.”

“That I won’t do,” Seth says.

He points the gun at Faye.

She cringes but doesn’t do anything else.

She’s used to this.

I’m not.

This life of hers is trash. There’s nothing waiting for her but an eventual death.

“Come hug me,” Seth says. “I’ve missed you, Jaci. Sorry I stepped away. Had to handle business.”

“Seth… who are you right now?”

“I’m the same old Seth,” he says with a grin.

My blood runs cold.

He really is the same old Seth.

He sucks me in.

He promises me the world.

He’s nice.

He helps me.

He gets what he wants from me…

Then the real side comes out.

“Outlaw,” he says. “This is my life. Just like you, Jaci. You’re mafia. We’ll always cross paths. Unless one of us is dead.”

“They’re going to kill you, Seth,” I say.

“Cullen? Archer? I’m not worried. They’re in my territory now. You have two seconds to hug me or else someone is getting shot.”

I walk toward Seth.
