I take a deep breath and step in front of the moving golf cart.

The guy driving it quickly stops.

“Do you know who I am?” I ask.

The guy nods.

“What do you think I want?”

“A ride,” he says.

“Wrong,” I say. “Get out of the golf cart and walk.”

“Oh,” he says.

I step closer to the golf cart. “Is that a problem for you?”

The guy shakes his head.

He quickly climbs out of the golf cart and walks away.

“Now that’s cool,” Birdie says.

“Powerful,” Maz says. “Damn.”

“Get in, I’m driving,” I say.

I hit the pedal as hard as I can.

The golf carts really don’t have a top speed.

Maz sits next to me.

Birdie is on the back but she turns around.

“Did you and Seth have sex after he kidnapped you?” Birdie asks.

“Birdie!” Maz yells.

“No, we didn’t,” I say.

“So why did he kidnap you? What’s his connection to everything?” Birdie asks.

“No clue, Birdie,” I say. “I thought Cullen and Archer were going to kill him. But they didn’t. More secrets.”

“You need to flex that power,” Maz says.

“Too much and I’m a dead girl,” I say.

“You still think Archer will kill you?” Birdie asks. “He was really freaked out when you went missing.”

“He and Cullen,” Maz says.

I shrug my shoulders. “I just want coffee.”

We change the subject to the weather, classes, and anything but my life.

Seeing the coffeeshop feels like heaven.
