The closest I’ve got is Seth and his family. And the stories I’ve heard are scary.

But those are bikers.

Not mafia.

It’s different.

I grab my phone again and read the bomb threat one more time.

I agree with Maz.

I don’t think there’s a bomb anywhere around here.

But I definitely feel like something is going to explode soon.

Chapter 26

There’s nothing to do but wait.

And waiting sucks.

So we decide to drink.

I can’t get a hold of Cullen. Of Archer.

I definitely can’t get a hold of Seth.

There’s this weird aura floating around.

Not that I’m into energies and stuff, but there’s a feel to what’s happening.

Part of it is Birdie going off the rails.

Talking about the bomb threat. Talking about where the bomb could be. And if it exploded, who it would hurt.

Maz sticks to her simple theory that it’s a hoax.

Which, again, makes perfect sense.

We had bomb threats all the time in high school.

For all we knew, someone didn’t study for a test and got spooked over failing and decided to call in the bomb threat.

With the way my grades are currently shaped, it’s not a bad idea…

Maz hands me a bottle of vodka. “Your turn. Middle fingers up.”

I sip the vodka and nod.

We’re playing a game that Birdie demanded we play.

We all put up our middle fingers and then someone gets to make a statement.

If you’ve done whatever that statement is you get to keep your middle finger up.

Basically, it’s like one giant sex confession.

“I have to think of something,” I say.
