“How did I do, love?”

“This is perfect.”

Cullen smirks just a little.

His lips barely touch mine.

The buttery smell of the popcorn climbs up my nose.

The ambience of the lights, candles, and the sound of the rain from the open window…

Cullen Doyle is like heaven.

And you and I both know what the opposite of heaven - and Cullen - is.

Awoman walks down to the basement, her flashlight flickering.

I know what’s going to happen. I know it’s fake. But I can’t help myself as I feel shivers climbing up my back.

The woman turns the corner at the steps and her flashlight dies.

I lick my lips.

A set of red-orange eyes begin to glow in the far corner of the basement.

“Turn and run,” I whisper.

“She can’t,” Cullen whispers. “She has to figure this out.”

I smile.

Cullen gets it.

Of course any sane person would run from this kind of crap.

But this was a scary movie! The whole point was to keep going!

The flashlight turns on.

The eyes are gone.

The flashlight turns off.

The eyes are back!

They’re bigger now!

The flashlight flickers back on and the eyes disappear once more.

The suspenseful scene continues.

The light goes on and off.On and off.

Each time the light is off, the eyes are bigger.

Each time the light is on, the eyes vanish.

Then comes the final time.
