"But given the level of detail in the prep, I doubt that is the case here. Of course, there’s a fourth option which is that he really is the killer, did the crimes, is confessing to them to get a kick, but is not divulging the details in the hope that the case will fall apart and he'll be released." Kerry sighed.

“What should we do now?” May asked.

"Let's wait half an hour and then go back and question him again. And while we wait, Adams, you and I can go through the forensic reports of these bomb explosions, and speak to the bomb squad again. The more detail we have, the more we can use to trap him."

They marched off in the direction of the lobby.

May turned to Owen.

"I think we need to try and look for another angle. Another possible killer. If William is released, or inadvertently provides an alibi, we're all out of suspects. That's going to put our police department and Sheriff Jack in a very bad position with the state governor."

"Alright," Owen said. "Let's go take a look. I'm sure, if we scrutinize the evidence, something will come up we haven't thought of."

May sensed that they had almost, but not quite, succeeded in solving the puzzle. Now, she hoped that they were able to identify the missing piece, in the little time they had left.
