“Not in the least.” I hand the glass back to him. Even in these heels, I can’t see much through the crowd of people who have entered the lounge and are now sampling the large buffet of mouth-watering choices.
The rich smells make my belly rumble, but I can’t even think of putting a single bite of food into my mouth at this moment unless I want to hurl all over the place.
“You know your brother is a complete asshat, right?” I snap.
“Which one?” Nikolai says with a lift of his eyebrow.
“My fiancé.”
“Oh, you mean the king of the asshats?”
I smile in spite of myself. “The one and only.”
“Yeah, he’s like an acquired taste.” He chuckles, and then just as quickly, a shadow darkens his expression and his smile fades. “Oh, fuck.”
I whip my head around to follow his gaze and nearly choke on the gasp caught in the back of my throat.
