“Kitten,” Cole said, snickering.

I sighed. “She’s a handful.”

“Do you find it difficult to deal with her sometimes?” Enzo asked.

I nodded. “Often. We’re going through a bit of a rough patch.”

Enzo raised his brows. “Is it bad?”

“She said she doesn’t want to be married to me anymore.” I took a shot, feeling it burn all the way down my throat.

“Well, that’s fucked,” E muttered, shooting me a sympathetic look.

“Are you going to let her go?” Fox asked, frowning.

“I don’t know. I’m tired of the fighting.” I drank again.

“You’re not,” Levin said firmly. “And that’s final.”

“Right. Because how would that work? Three kings banging the leader’s ex-wife?” Cole let out a low whistle. “Seems rough.”

“Two kings. Fallon left us. He’s back with the lords,” I said grimly.

“Well, fuck.” Enzo shook his head. “So that means…”

“All he has to do is fucking sing and it’s game over for all of us.” Another shot.

“We aren’t overly concerned. We’ll do what needs to be done. We have the manpower,” Enzo said. “Not that we want to do it, but we will if we must.”

I nodded. I knew a war wasn’t what they wanted. Not like this. They were the lurkers. They liked to strike from the shadows, not balls out, guns blazing. I understood it. They were different from the kings.

“We’re having a party in a few months. For my parents’ anniversary. I know it’s far out, but it’s at least something to look forward to. Everyone who is anyone will be there,” Enzo said. “You should come. A good party is a great way to clear your mind if you guys are still in a rut.”

“Maybe,” I muttered, rubbing my eyes and looking at the time. We needed to go. It had been nearly two hours.

“De Santis,” Enzo said gently. “Don’t worry too much about your girl. Rosalie and I go at it quite often these days. It fucking hurts, but she knows I love her, and I know she loves me. You’ll hopefully find common ground.”

“Have you found it?”

He scoffed. “No. But I’m looking for it, even if the prospects are bleak.”

I nodded. I understood.

“We’ll get the drugs out. We’ll keep our ears to the ground on Beyers and Fallon. Watch your girl in the meantime. The lords want her too. She’s on their list,” I said.

I noticed Fox’s hand curled into a fist and Cole’s gaze turn hard. And E… he opened up his phone and checked her location.

“We have men watching her as well,” Enzo said. “She’ll be safe.”

“Good.” I got to my feet. “We’ll see you soon.”

We shook hands. Then Levin and Vincent followed me out the back and to my car. I tossed Vincent my keys. He took them and slid behind the steering wheel. Levin got into the back while I got into the passenger side.

We drove in silence for a long time before Levin spoke.

“Don’t give up on her, Dom.”

“I know,” I whispered, telling myself I’d go straight to her the moment we got back.
