Page 120 of The Chaos You Crave

With shaking hands, I took the glass and brought it to my lips, spilling it on myself in the process.

“You good?”

“Yeah, thank you. For that especially.” I nodded in Reynolds' direction.

“It's not a problem. It was a small dose so he won't be out long...what are you doing back here?”

“Where ishereexactly?” I took another sip of water. I tapped my feet on the floor, appreciating the feeling slowly returning.

“We’re at Ethereal. It’s a club in Castle Grove.”

“Is this Pete Hannigan’s club?”

The woman laughed. “He fuckingwishesthis was his. Gio Moretti owns it.”

“Moretti?”

“Yeah, you know them? The whole family’s a bunch of assholes. The men are, at least.”

It was my turn to laugh. “I’m pretty sure I’m in love with one of those assholes.”

“Which one?” Her demeanor hardened as she took a step closer to me. “You better not say Kane.”

“West,” I squeaked, leaning back from her. “You’re not going to hurt me, are you?”

“Oh, haha, no. I only hurt bad men. West is Kane’s cousin,” she said as she sat on the bed next to me. Girl had some issues withKane.

“Do you know him? West?” I asked, cringing at the thought of West being with this gorgeous woman. She was flawless with ivory skin, dark hair, and icy blue eyes. She had the kind of beauty that came naturally, and I couldn’t help comparing my plain self to her.

“No. I’ve seen him in passing at holiday events. Saw the family at Gio’s big Christmas Eve ball last year, for the half hour I was able to attend…” she trailed off, looking lost in a memory. “Kane’s a self-centered asshole. If West is anything like him, good luck to you.”

“You like him though?”

“Who, Kane?” She laughed. “Fuck. No!”

“You almost bit my head off when you thought I was into him,” I pointed out, smiling slightly.

“No, no, no. He’s an absolute dick. A royal prick. Whatever bad adjective you can think of, multiply it by one hundred and that’s still not as bad as Kane Moretti.”

I guess the asshole genes were hereditary in the Moretti family.

“If you say so…”

“I’m Dani, by the way.”

“Ashtyn.”

“What do you say we find out who’s responsible for dragging you to this hell hole?”

“It was Pete.”

Dani’s eyes widened. “I can’t stand him! He and my dad–”

“You won’t have to worry about him anymore,” a gruff voice said from the doorway.

I looked up to see a wall of familiar faces and a few strangers.

West and Remington barged past the others and ran to me, West grabbing me and pulling me up from the bed. My legs were working again but I still felt like my knees could give out at his embrace.
