“For real ends or ends with you in jail again?”

I understand her not trusting anything right now. I’ve made promise after promise that things will work out and they only have gotten worse. We need to prove to her it’s real and that’s exactly what I plan on doing. I will not fucking let her down again.

“This is real, you’ll see,” I say.

“How you feeling, Riley?” Nora asks.

I smile up at her and she shakes her head. “Could be worse.”

“That’s the fucking truth,” she says. “Gillian was strong and brave, but no more making us all worry like that.”

I chuck

le, holding onto my ribs. “I’ll do my best.”

Ivy, Harper, and Adalyn come over and join us. I’m grateful for the beer Harper hands me and tip it back.

“So, Finn is dating Porter’s daughter? What are the fucking odds?” Harper asks.

“That’s what I said,” Gillian comments.

“She told me her father had connections, so I’m not sure she even knows about Porter. She was kinda fascinated with the club, but because she thought they were hot. I’ve talked to her many times and she never mentioned seeing Finn. I’m not sure what her angle in all this is,” Ivy says.

Nora glances at Adalyn, shaking her head. “Porter went through hell losing that little girl. This is going to be fucking hard for him.”

I was around for it, I remember. It hurt losing his ex, but it nearly destroyed him losing his daughter.

“He’s a bigger man doing this for me, for the club. We’ll help him in any way we can,” I say, finishing off my beer.

They continue to talk about it and I check the time. I should head over to the warehouse. The drive is gonna suck and I want it over. I grab onto the table and slowly push myself up. They all start trying to help, but I laugh telling them I’m fine.

“I’ll be back in a little bit,” I say, kissing Gillian.

She kisses me back, gently. She doesn’t want to hurt me and I’ll take it for now. But when we get home, I want to feel the pain.

“You going to be alright to drive?” she asks, searching my face.

“Yeah.”

“You better come back to me, Riley Giddens,” she whispers.

I grab her shoulders and ignore the pain shooting through me. “I’ve made a lot of promises to you, baby girl, but this time I’ll prove it’s real. I’m coming back to you and we’re going home tonight.”

It takes me longer to get to the car than normal and I groan out in pain as I sit down. Yeah, this ride is going to suck. I get onto the road and make the drive to the warehouses. I never thought I’d fucking do this again. This piece of shit better not have something up his sleeve because I will kill him this time. I trust my club, but I have no idea what to think of the guy that raised Mia. I appreciate him though and have to respect the fact that he’s helping me.

I pull into the parking lot and the only one I see is agent dickhead. I pull up to him like I have so many times before, only this time I know I’m not alone. I carefully climb out of the car and recoil from the pain.

“Damn, no wonder you finally gave in,” he says, laughing.

“Fuck you,” I hiss.

He smiles as he crosses his arms. “You took a lot of hits, but you’re doing the right thing now.”

I light my smoke and blow it at him. “Oh, I know I am.”

“Your records will disappear and everything will go away. All you need to do is get me into those records and get rid of Zane Madden. I need my revenge,” he says.

I nod, taking a drag of my cigarette. “Revenge because you think Zane is responsible for ending your drug connection with Kingsley?”
