“Rylee-”

I looked at Kincaid. “What?” I knew I sounded like a hysterical mess, but I didn’t care. “I…” I looked between her and Saxton. “I need you guys to help me,” I begged. “Please, help me out of this mess.Please.”

Saxton’s jaw clenched with regret. “I can’t, Rylee,” he said. “I’m so sorry. I really am. But my obligation is to The Order, and therefore, Stone.”

I looked over at Kincaid. “Kincaid?”

She looked over at Saxton. “Give us an hour,” she said before looking back over at me. “We can go back to your apartment and grab some of your things. I can’t help you avoid Stone forever, but…I can help you get a head start.” I nodded because it was better than nothing.

“Babe-”

“Just one hour, Saxton,” Kincaid repeated.

Saxton stood up from his chair, then looked down at both of us. “I can’t do that.” My entire chest felt like it was caving in. But holding my gaze he added, “When I walk out that door, I am going to send out a group text, declaring an emergency meeting.”

“I…understand,” I whispered brokenly.

“But the roads are really slippery this time of year, so I’ll have to go the speed limit and come to complete stops at every traffic light.” He gave me a soft smile. “I might even have to take a detour through the back roads, because, traffic, you know.”

Tears erupted. “Thank you,” I mouthed because Saxton Voss was one of the good guys.

When he walked out the door, Kincaid asked, “Do you want to stay with me?”

I shook my head. “I want to stay where Stone Lexington will never find me,” I told her honestly.

Only, I had no idea where that was.

Chapter 25

Stone~

Itwas past one in the fucking morning, and still pissed as fuck, I was now standing around with Ross and Fox, waiting on Saxton for some goddamn clandestine meeting.

By the time Saxton’s white Lexus LS 500 finally made its way into the wooded clearing on the edge of the city limits of Serenity Springs, I was ready to snap.

It’s been a long fucking night.

When Saxton made his way towards the group, it seemed like I wasn’t the only one irritated. “What the hell, Voss?” Fox kicked off. “It’s past one in the fucking morning.”

“Seriously,” Ross added. “I was ready to pass the fuck out and call it a day.”

Saxton took it all in stride. “I just came from Kincaid’s and-”

“What in the hell were you doing at Kincaid’s at this hour?” Fox asked, and there was a lot to unpack in the tone of his voice. What in the hell did Fox Harrington care if Saxton Voss was at Kincaid’s? After all, he was her sponsor.

However, before I could question it any further, Saxton’s grey eyes shot my way. “Rylee was over at her place,” he announced, and I could feel the coldness icing through my veins.

All three of them were looking my way now. “And?” I asked.

“Before I say anything, are we all in agreement about August Remington?” Saxton asked, and a foreboding tingle danced down my spine. “I mean, you guys already know how I feel about him.”

“I haven’t downplayed what I think of him,” Ross answered. “I don’t trust him.”

“Yeah, I don’tmuch care for him myself,” Fox added. “The guy’s just too…slippery. He reminds me of a used-car salesman.”

“Yeah,” Ross agreed. “Can look you right in the eye, knowing everything coming out of his mouth is bullshit.”

“Stone?”
