My phone rang, and I picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Vincent? It’s Cole.”

“Hey dick face,” I greeted him.

“Hey, man. That’s not nice. I called you by your name.”

“And I called you by yours,” I retorted. These guys still pissed me off. It would be a hell of a long time before I got over being their fucking pincushion.

“I’m just checking in on things. Seeing if there was any news on your hellcat.”

“Nothing. Dead ends all around.”

He was quiet. “For what it’s worth, I’m sorry. Do you think maybe she bailed?”

“I don’t know. I don’t think she’d do that. We have people all over this city. Connections, you know? She hasn’t been seen on any public transport cameras, hasn’t purchased a plane, train, or bus ticket. Her money is still in her account. She’s just… gone.”

“Fuck,” Cole said, sighing. “We’ll keep our ears open on it. She’s somewhere, man. Believe that.”

“I-I just hope she’s OK.”

“I hope so too. I liked her. Give me a ring if you hear anything. We’ll be in touch if we do. Oh, that reminds me. If we do find her, do you want us to kill the fucker who has her or just wait for you guys?”

“We want him,” I said darkly. The things I’d do to the motherfucker who had her was twisted. He’d be screaming for mercy by the time we were finished with him.

“I understand, but know that if our girl gets bothered in the slightest by whoever is behind this—and we’re pretty fucking sure it has to be the lords—then we will kill them. Just putting that out there for you.”

“We understand,” I said. “But if that happens, make it painful.”

“There is no other way,” Cole said with a soft, sinister laugh that sent chills down my spine. “We’ll talk later.”

We hung up, and I flopped back on the bed, wondering what the fuck we could be missing in finding her.

Levin said Fallon was being a dick and had gone to the dark side and wasn’t giving up any information. He said Fallon seemed genuine in not knowing where she was though. When we’d talked to Aubrey, she’d been hysterical, begging Dom for forgiveness and swearing she didn’t come over because Bianca called her to say we’d be home early. I knew in my soul Aubrey was being honest.

I sat up quickly, a thought we’d completely overlooked bursting into my head.

“I know that look. What’s up?” Levin asked, coming into the room fully dressed in his Bolten uniform.

“B’s phone records. We can see if she texted anyone. If she did, we’ll know it had to be someone on campus. We completely overlooked that.”

Levin nodded. “OK. So let’s get the records.”

“My computer,” Dom said, coming out in his uniform pants and no shirt. “I can look at all our phone calls from there.”

We rushed over to his computer. He turned it on and began sorting through her messages and calls. There weren’t many. Everything came from us with a few from Aubrey.

Then there it was. Eight at night. An incoming text from Fallon.

“Can you see what it said?” Levin asked.

“Maybe…” Dom murmured, frowning as he went through more screens before her message pulled up.

Fallon: I miss you.

B: I miss you too.
