Ross let out a low whistle. “Wish I could have been there.”

“There were pictures all over social media of you and Hastings, but nothing on Fox and Kincaid,” Stone said.

“Probably because everyone knew better,” I joked.

“So, you’re dating Hastings now,” Ross surmised. “Where does that leave her in all this?”

“Before she overhead that shit with August and Laney, I’d say nowhere,” I answered honestly. “The plan was to keep her out of this mess.” I glanced over at Ross. “I’m not ready to get married.”

The fucker just grinned. “Yeah, I didn’t think I was, either.”

“Well, even without Saxton in her bed, we all know that Hastings has to be trustworthy or else Kincaid never would have moved her in with her,” Fox said. “So, I’m not too worried about Hastings saying anything. We can always limit how deeply we let her in.”

“You need to tell her to stay away from August and Laney, though,” Stone added. “With as many pictures of you guys together on social media, he’s bound to know that you’re with Hastings now. Who’s to say he doesn’t start messing with her the way he messed with Sutton?”

He was right. At this point, there was no telling what August might do. While he couldn’t do anything obvious to Rylee or Sutton because Alexander and his brood were watching us, Hastings wasn’t my wife. August had more leeway to fuck with her than he had with Rylee or Sutton.

“I’ll be sure to tell her to stay away from them,” I assured them. “But from what Kincaid told me, Hastings already had enough sketchy vibes from what she’d overheard. I can’t see her going anywhere near August or Laney.”

“Still, it’s better to make sure that she understands the situation,” Ross replied. “The last thing that we need is for Hastings to get caught up in something that we can’t exactly explain to her.”

“This shit shouldn’t be so goddamn hard,” Fox growled. “How can he be so blatant about shit but still have his hands squeaky clean?”

“Well, if Hastings overheard them correctly, it looks like he has it all set up to pin all this shit on Laney if it goes south,” Ross said. “When she said she could turn on him, he practically dared her.”

“Instead of a guard on Rylee, maybe we need to put a PI on August,” Fox suggested. “Maybe we’re looking in the wrong direction.”

“You don’t think he’ll notice?” Stone asked.

“I’m sure he will,” Fox replied. “However, if he knows he’s being watched, then maybe that’ll be a better deterrent for him. He can’t very well attack Rylee or approach any of the girls if someone is recording his every move, right?”

“That’s not a bad idea,” I muttered. “Hell, it’s actually a good idea if you consider that we don’t have anything else right now.”

“I can get Chicago to recommend someone,” Stone agreed. “He’s the best, and he knows what my expectations would be. Especially, since this involves my wife.”

I glanced between him and Ross. “So, how are the parentals taking all this wedded bliss?”

“My parents are pissed, but I don’t give a fuck,” Stone replied easily and honestly.

“My parents were pissed, too,” Ross admitted. “However, after it got spun in their favor, they stay out of it.”

“Hastings is a Martin, so I can’t see anyone taking exception to whatever you have going on with her,” Fox said. “I think you’re pretty safe as far as The Order is concerned.”

I looked over at him. “Yeah, well, something tells me Lexington really is contagious, because I can’t say I’d give a fuck if they disapproved.”

Fox grinned. “I’m almost feel sorry for Alexander,” he joked. “What with the way you guys are running amok.”

“Yeah, because it was us who dragged Kincaid Black from a party this weekend,” I deadpanned.

“Seriously,” Ross grimaced. “I mean, I’m all for extreme sports, but Jesus Christ.”

“Do you ever plan on telling us what the fuck is going on between you two?” Stone asked him.

“As soon as I know, you guys will be the first I tell,” Fox replied dryly.

Ross looked over at me. “Don’t you know? I mean, you are her best friend.”

“And the reason that I’m her best friend is because I know how to mind my own business,” came my retort. “Trust me when I tell you guys that there’s a talent to being Kincaid Black’s best friend.”

“I don’t doubt it,” Stone smirked.

“Okay, so priorities,” I said, getting back to the subject at hand. “I’ll have a talk with Hastings and Stone will put a PI on August, yeah?”

They all agreed with Stone adding, “I think I’ll put one on Laney, too.”

“It might make her snap,” Ross said hopefully.

“If only we could be so lucky,” I replied.
